From Lillehammer, NOR
(November 16, 2022) – French sliding veteran Margot Boch cruised to victory in the European Cup monobob season opener in Lillehammer, Norway, setting the quick time in both heats on her way to victory.
Boch had the third quickest start in each heat, and ended the first run just .03 ahead of Germany’s Maureen Zimmer. On the second run Zimmer was unable to keep up with Boch, putting down only the fourth fastest time of the heat to finish second, with Romania’s Andreea Grecu back in third.
The win for Boch was her second in IBSF senior monobob competition. She also won a U23 Junior World Championship in 2021.
For Zimmer, the silver is a career-best finish as a pilot, with the German just starting her second season at the front.
Grecu and teammate Georgeta Popescu led a Romanian 3-4 finish, while Slovakia’s Patricia Tajcnarova set the second best time of the second heat to move from sixth to fifth in her first career monobob race.
Swiss pilot Martina Fontanive rounded out the top six.
British pilots Adele Nicoll and Mica Moore finished seventh and 13th, respectively, in their first European Cup race as pilots.
