(Aug. 1, 2022) – The International Luge Federation has canceled the season opening race in Igls due to a broadcast scheduling conflict with the FIFA World Cup.
Despite the cancelation of this race, the FIL World Cup will still open in Igls, but instead of two weeks of races in Igls, the season will simply start in Igls before moving to North America for two events in Whistler and Park City.
The FIL has said that they will have a replacement date announced shortly after their Executive Board works out a new venue/date.
The season will now open December 2-4 in Igls before going to Whistler and Park City on the weekends of December 9 and 15, respectively. The tour is currently then scheduled to be on break until January 6 when it opens in Sigulda. The calendar currently has an event in Lillehammer then a week off before World Championships in Oberhof, then races over the next three weeks in Altenberg, Winterberg, and St. Moritz.
