From Lake Placid, USA
American Kyle Tress finishes a dominating performance in the America’s Cup final weekend, throwing down the two fastest times in Men’s Skeleton on Friday. Tress was the only slider in the sub-44 second range, beating Ander Mirambell by over a full second.
Mirambell’s silver tops off a solid final weekend of racing for the Spanish slider. After a somewhat disappointing finish to World Championships, Mirambell rebounds nicely with a bronze Thursday and silver Friday. Canadian Travis Brockway takes bronze, just ahead of American Alex Ivanov.
It was a great day for the American men’s team, with Tress taking gold, Ivanov fourthh, Ryan Sweeney fifth, and Derek Pirtle eighth, while the Canadians put sliders third, sixth (Ian Mills), tenth (Barrett Martineau and eleventh (Sean Greenwood).
