Tobias Wendl & Tobias Arlt entered the second heat in second place and slid into the lead with only teammates Eggert & Benecken to go. Eggert & Benecken were unmatched, however, as they set the two quickest runs of the race to take their fifth gold medal of the season and the 51st FIL World Cup gold medal of their storied career.

Wendl & Arlt finished in second place, ahead of Latvians Martins Bots & Roberts Plume in third. The Latvians’ second downtime was the second quickest of the final heat to move them up from fifth in the first heat on to the podium.

The race doubled as the European Championships, and the podium remained the same for that race as well.

Italy’s Emanuel Rieder & Simon Kainzwaldner missed out on a podium by .031 and finished fourth. The Latvian team of Andris & Juris Sics finished fifth, while Thomas Steu & Lorenz Koller of Austria rounded out the top six.

The Canadian team of Tristan Walker & Justin Snith finished the first heat in third, only .095 out of the time set by Eggert & Benecken. On their second run they had a bit of trouble at the top and lost time most of their way down. The Canadians finished their race in eighth.

Along with their 50th World Cup win, Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken won the season-long championship. Sics & Sics came into the race as the point leaders by just 21 points over the Germans. Their first run left them back in eighth place. A quick second run moved them up the order a handful of spots, but not enough to pick off Eggert & Benecken.

It was the sixth World Cup season title for the German duo. Sics & Sics and Wendl & Arlt rounded out the season-long podium.
