From Umhausen, AUT
(January 15, 2022) – Italy’s Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara beat out Austria’s Fabian & Simon Achenrainer to win their second gold of the season in Umhausen.
The Italian duo opened up a .29 second advantage over the Austrians in the first run. On the second trip down the Achenrainers were down well ahead of Russia’s Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev with only Pigneter & Clara to go.
The Italians couldn’t match their first run time but were still the quickest of the heat on their way to a .31 second victory.
The gold for Pigneter & Clara was the second to start the season.
Patrick & Matthias Lambacher finished fourth, ahead of Russia’s Stanislav & Ilia Tarasov and Kirill Kravchuk & Nikolai Shulgin who rounded out the top six.
