From Umhausen, AUT
(January 15, 2022) – Evelin Lanthaler won her second straight race to start the season, cruising to victory for the second straight week in Umhausen.
For the second straight week Lanthaler set the two quick times of the race to win by nearly a full second over the field. Lanthaler had the quick start time in both heats, and was ahead at every split except for one over the two runs on her way to a .88 second victory.
The podium was identical to the previous week’s race, with Germany’s Lisa Walch once again finishing with a silver medal and Greta Pinggera winning a bronze. For the second straight week Pinggera was in second going into the second heat but fell behind Walch.
Michelle Diepold of Austria finished fourth, ahead of Ekaterina Lavrenteva in fifth and Austria’s Tina Unterberger in sixth.
Germany’s Sara Bachmann finished 11th, while Canada’s Bailey Stonham finished 20th, a career-best.
