From Durham, USA
(January 10, 2022) – The European Cup wrapped up its season in a hurry, as is to be expected during an Olympic year. Below you’ll find the final results for men’s and women’s skeleton.
Men’s Skeleton
Stefan Röttig held off teammate Cedric Renner for the top spot in the European Cup men’s skeleton standings. Entering the season finale in Altenberg, Röttig led Renner by just three points, meaning depending on where Renner finished, Röttig would need to finish one or two places ahead of him to take the overall title. Röttig won the race in Altenberg to tie up the season points by 23 over Renner.
Ludwig Mannhardt completed the German sweep of the season-long podium after he out-paced Russia’s Dmitrii Grevtsev in the final race of the season.
China’s Zheng Yin won the first four races of the season to finish fifth, despite not competing in the second half of the European Cup season. Krists Netlaus rounded out the top six.
The United States’ Hunter Williams competed in the final five races of the European Cup season and finished the year in 17th place overall.

Women’s Skeleton
The European Cup skeleton program wasn’t quite as tight as the men’s, but the season long title did come down to one race.
In the season opener, Germany’s Sarah Wimmer finished second while the United States’ Mystique Ro crashed and recorded a DNF. Across the rest of the season the racing was tight between the two women, but with Wimmer’s bronze and Ro’s sixth place finish, Wimmer took the overall title.
Ro finished second on the season, 30 points ahead of Russia’s Polina Tiurina in third. Turina missed the first two races in Lillehammer.
Like her men’s skeleton teammate, China’s Yuxi Li won the first four races of the season and finished the year in fourth place, four points ahead of Russia’s Anastasiia Tsyganova.
Germany’s Hanna Staub rounded out the top six.
