From Umhausen, AUT
(January 8, 2022) – Like their teammate Evelin Lanthaler before them, Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara cruised to victory in Umhausen.
The Italian duo combined the quickest start of the second heat with the fastest run in both heats on their way to a .97 second victory over Russia’s Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev.
The win for Pigneter & Clara is their fifth in seven races dating back to the 2020/2021 season. Porshnev & Lazarev, the winners of the season finale in Laas, won their fourth medal in five races.
The Russians beat out Austria’s Fabian & Simon Achenrainer by .04 for the silver medal after what looked to be a quick run for the Achenrainers was only good enough for fourth quickest in the second heat.
The Achenrainers took bronze, well ahead of Italy’s Patrick & Matthias Lambacher in fourth. Russia’s Aleksandr Egorov & Petr Popov and Stanislav Kovshik & Ilia Tarasov rounded out the top six.
