From Umhausen, AUT
(January 8, 2022) – Evelin Lanthaler picked up right where she left off in the 2020/2021 season, winning gold in Umhausen in convincing fashion.
The Italian was consistent, setting two runs in the 1:15.30s to put down the two faste times of the race on her way to a 1.09 second victory.
The win for Lanthaler was her ninth straight victory in World Cup action.
Italy’s Greta Pinggera and Germany’s Lisa Walch put on a good battle for silver, with Walch eventually coming out on top. Pinggera led Walch after the first heat, and had the advantage midway through her second run until one bad curve set Pinggera back.
Pinggera held on for bronze.
Austria’s Michelle Diepold and Tina Unterberger finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Russia’s Ekaterina Lavrenteva rounded out the top six.
Sara Bachmann rallied from 11th in the first heat to get two German sleds in the top ten with a ninth place finish.
