From Igls, AUT
(January 7, 2022) – France’s Margot Boch edged out Germany’s Stephanie Schneider in European Cup Monobob World Series action to win her first gold in that discipline.
Boch was the quickest off the top in the first heat and opened up a .08 second advantage over Schneider on that run. On the second run it was all Stephanie Schneider, as she set the quick time at the start and at every split along the Austrian course to take the lead. Boch hung with Schneider, and while she was unable to match the German’s second run time, her first run was enough to give her gold.
The gold was the third medal for Boch in Monobob World Series action, all of which have come at the European Cup level.
Australia’s Ashleigh Werner finished third for another Monobob World Series medal. She’s been on on the podium in five of the last six monobob races she’s entered, with medals in five of them.
Slovakia’s Viktoria Chernanska finished fourth, ahead of Poland’s Linda Weiszewski in fifth. Korea’s Yooran Kim finished sixth.
