(January 6, 2022) – Stephanie Schneider edged out Ashleigh Werner in European Cup Monobob World Series action in Igls.
Germany’s Schneider held a .03 advantage over Australia’s Werner going into the second heat, with Korea’s Yooran Kim and France’s Margot Boch in the hunt. On the second run Werner was again quick, easily sliding into the lead with only Schneider to go. Schneider was quicker off the top, and that was the advantage she needed to edge out Werner by .13 seconds.
The gold for Schneider was her third monobob monobob win in four races. She’s never finished out of the top of the to four in any monobob race she has entered.
The silver for Werner was her fourth in five races. She’d previously won silver in every North American Cup race in Lake Placid in December before finishing sixth in Sigulda’s World Cup race.
Boch finished with a bronze medal, leapfrogging Korea’s Yooran Kim for the spot. Kim finished .07 back in fourth.
Italy’s Giada Andreutti finished fifth, while Slovakia’s Viktoria Cernanska finished sixth.
