Women’s Luge

Just a few hours after having Julia Taubitz edge her out for gold in the World Cup race, Madeleine Egle took revenge and won the Women’s Sprint World Cup race by .050 over Taubitz.

Egle went off 14th in the 15 sled field and took the lead from Germany’s Anna Berreiter. Taubitz put down what was an otherwise nearly flawless run, but one small skid is what separated her from gold.

Egle took gold, Taubitz silver, and Berreiter bronze. Natalie Geisenberger finished just .005 out of the medals in fourth, tied with Latvia’s Eliza Tiruma. Selina Egle finished sixth.

The United States’ Ashley Farquharson finished tenth, while teammate Ashley Emily Sweeney had an early mistake that dropped her to 15th.
