From Lake Placid, USA
(December 15, 2021) – As a part of the Women’s Monbob World Series there were eight races held in the North American Cup tour, and in all eight of those races Canada’s Alysia Rissling came out on top. That included Wednesday’s finale in Lake Placid.
For the third time on the weekend Rissling set a start record off the top. She was the quickest in both heats as well on her way to a .64 second victory over Australia’s Ashleigh Werner.
Rissling has yet to finish off of the podium in any North American Cup race this season. Along with her eight monobob gold medals she’s won gold in three of the five two-woman bobsled races, with two bronze medals in Park City.
Werner was the only woman on the week to beat Rissling in any one heat, and her two runs on Wednesday were good enough for her third straight silver medal. The United States’ Brittany Reinbolt had a bumpy first run, but her second run was the second quickest of the heat to move her from sixth to a bronze medal.
Jamaica’s Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian finished fourth, ahead of the United States’ Nicole Vogt and Canada’s Bianca Ribi.
