From Lake Placid, USA
(December 15, 2021) – Korea’s Eunji Kim once again won in convincing fashion in Lake Placid, taking gold in her third straight IBSF North American Cup race.
Kim was in a class of her own and had the two quickest starts of the competition combined with the quickest time at every split along her run on her way to a 1.03 second victory over Sweden’s Leslie Stratton.
Stratton was the second quickest in each heat as she edged out Korea’s Jeonghyeok Lee by .22 for silver, with Lee winning bronze.
The Canadian women grabbed the next two spots, with Natalie Coughlin and Grace Dafoe in fourth and fifth place, respectively, while Korea’s Seokju Yang finished sixth.
The race was the final race of the 2021/2022 IBSF North American Cup. Brazil’s Nicole Silveira won the overall title despite not racing in Lake Placid. She had won every race to start the season before moving over to Europe for the second half of her year. Jeonghyeok Lee and Leslie Stratton finished the season in second and third.
