From Lake Placid, USA
It seemed coming into today’s final set of men’s skeleton heats it seemed that Martins Dukurs would have to crash, twice, to lose the men’s skeleton world championship. It didn’t come to that, and the Latvian dominated the final heat, winning in convincing fashion.
German Frank Rommel did his best to keep pace, but would have to settle for a silver medal. Ben Sandford needed a quick run to take bronze, and he had one, beating out Sergei Chudinov. Matt Antoine and Tomass Dukurs tie for fifth.
John Daly made it two sleds for the United States in the top 10 with an 8th place finish, while the Canadians Fairbairn and Douglas finished 10th and 11th, while Eric Neilson improved his position with the second fastest run of the heat up to 13th.
