From Winterberg, GER
(December 12, 2021) – The Friedrich Show continued on Sunday, with Germany’s Francesco Friedrich winning again in four-man bobsled.
Unlike the previous day’s four-man race, Friedrich didn’t let it get close, as the winningest bobsledder of all time took a .12 second advantage over Brad Hall into the second heat and then opened that margin up to .3 after two heats to win gold.
Friedrich’s gold was his 60th in World Cup action, with 20 of those coming in four-man competition. He’s perfect on the 2021/2022 season, with five gold medals in four-man bobsled and three in two-man.
Great Britain’s Brad Hall finished in second for his second four-man silver medal of the season. He edged Austria’s Benjamin Maier for the spot by .06, with Maier taking bronze.
Justin Kripps finished fourth for Canada, only .04 out of the medals, while Johannes Lochner and Rostislav Gaitiukevich tied for fifth to round out the top six. Gaitiukevich came into the second heat in eighth place, but set the second quickest time of the second heat to jump up the order.
American Hunter Church missed out on a top ten by one spot, tying for 11th with Latvia’s Oskars Kibermanis. Teammate Codie Bascue missed the second heat in 21st place.
Canada’s Chris Spring finished 15th, up from 16th in the first heat.
