On the second run the United States’ Emily Sweeney slid into the top five up from eighth, with the three Germans and Egle to go. Geisenberger bumped Sweeney from the top of the podium, but was quickly picked off by Berreiter. Taubitz’s second run was the quickest of the race to that point and moved her into the lead.

With three Germans in the top three and only Egle to go. Egle was calm under pressure. She set the second quickest start of the heat and stayed in the lead for the length of her run, eventually putting down the quickest run of the race on her way to a nearly .3 second win over Taubitz, with Berreiter in third.

The gold for Egle was her second on the season, with the first coming on the Olympic track in Yanqing. Taubitz’s silver was her second of the year and fourth medal overall, while Berreiter’s bronze was her second medal of the year.

Natalie Geisenberger put three German sleds in the top four with her fourth place finish, while Sweeney finished fifth for the United States’ best finish of the year in a two-heat race. Latvia’s Eliza Tiruma rounded out the top six.

The United States placed two women in the top ten, with Summer Britcher finishing tenth. Teammates Ashley Farquharson and Brittney Arndt finished 21st and 22nd respectively.

Canada’s Trinity Ellis finished 19th.
