From Igls, AUT
(December 3, 2021) – Stefan Röttig won his first career IBSF gold medal, coming from behind to take top honors in Igls.
Röttig trailed Great Britain’s Jacob Salisbury by .05 entering the second heat. On the second run Röttig set the quick time of the heat. Salisbury couldn’t answer Röttig’s time, and with that Röttig took his first career gold.
Russia’s Dmitrii Grevtsev finished with a career-best silver medal, .22 behind Röttig, while Salisbury held on to take bronze.
Röttig’s German teammates finished fourth and fifth, with Cedric Renner edging out Ludwig Mannhardt. Italy’s Marvin Moscara finished sixth from the 22nd starting position.
Canada’s Evan Neufeldt finished tenth in the 34 sled field. The United States’ Hunter Williams finished four spots back in 14th.
British rookies Patrick Atkin and Ronnie Wells finished 16th and 20th, respectively.
