Degenhardt & Rosenthal Win Women’s Doubles Gold

From La Plagne, FRA

(December 2, 2021) – Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal won doubles gold to open the Junior World Cup season, sliding to a dominant win in La Plagne.

Degenhardt and Rosenthal entered the second heat of the women’s doubles race a tenth of a second behind teammates Luisa Romanenko and Pauline Patz. On the second run Degenhardt and Rosenthal put down a time that was nearly three tenths faster than anyone else and plenty enough for gold.

The gold for Rosenthal was her second international gold medal in three races, after winning Nation’s Cup gold in St. Moritz women’s singles competition.

Romanenko and Patz struggled on their second run and had only the fifth quickest time of the heat, but held on for silver, while Americans Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby won bronze.

The United States put two sleds in the top four, with Maya Chan and Reannyn Weiler finishing the season opener in fourth place, just under two tenths from bronze.

Latvia’s Anda Upite and Sanija Ozolina finished fifth, and Anastasiia Kropacheva and Alena Starkova finished sixth.
