(November 27, 2021) – The North American Cup two-man program had a double header on Saturday, with a pair of two-run races on the 2002 Olympic track.
On the back half of the double header Frank Del Duca once again won gold, this time over Taylor Austin of Canada.
Del Duca and Kyle Wilcox had some trouble in the start of their first heat, but Del Duca was able to overcome that with his drive to put the Americans in the lead by .01 over the Canadians.
The second run for Del Duca and Wilcox was better, with the American team setting the quick start and quick run of the competition to pull away and win Del Duca’s second straight gold of the weekend.
Austin won silver, while Youngjin Suk took bronze, .66 back.
For the second time in two races, Geoff Gadbois just missed out on a medal with a fourth place finish. This time he was .08 behind the bronze medalist in fourth. Teammate Tyler Hickey finished fifth, while Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti finished sixth.
Derek White finished just out of the top ten in 11th to round out the American effort., while Pat Norton helped put two Canadian sleds in the top ten with an eighth place finish.
