Meyers Taylor set the fast run of the race, a 55.51, in the first heat, ahead of Breeana Walker, Christine de Bruin, and others. On the second run it was Laura Nolte who put down the biggest run of the heat, enough to move her from sixth into the lead with only Meyers Taylor to go.

The American wasn’t able to match the second heat time set by Nolte, but Meyers Taylor’s first run was enough to hold off the German.

The gold for Meyers Taylor was her second straight in monobob action, and the 20th for her at the World Cup level. For Nolte, the silver medal was her fourth in monobob competition.

Australia’s Breeana Walker held onto a medal, falling from the silver position to bronze in the second heat. Walker edged out Canada’s Christine de Bruin for the position, with de Bruin missing out on a medal by just .01 in fourth.

Cynthia Appiah helped put two sleds in the top five for Canada with a fifth place effort. Appiah, the start record holder, once again had the quick start of the competition with a 51.82 in the first heat.

The United States placed both of their women in the top six, with Kaillie Humphries scoring a sixth place finish.

Canada placed all three of their women in the top 11. On top of the top six runs for both de Bruin and Appiah, Melissa Lotholz finished 11th.

Mingming Huai of China had a fanastic second run to move up from 15th in the first heat to tenth, which was her best finish in a monobob race.

Australia’s Ashleigh Werner nearly tipped over in her first run, but she had a great save to keep her in the race. She finished 21st.
