From Park City, USA
(November 20, 2021) – Nicole Silveira won her fifth straight IBSF North American Cup race to start the season, winning in a snow race in Park City.
Silveira put down a .46 second advantage over Russia’s Alena Frolova in the first heat, with Canada’s Madi Charney and Russia’s Anastasia Trufanova both close behind. On the second run the snow came and times shot up, with most everyone roughly a second and a half slower than their first run.
Despite the snow, times were relatively consistent, and the final four sled all finished in the order in which they finished the first heat, with Silveira putting down a strong time on her second run to take her fifth gold medal in five NAC races on the 2021/2022 season.
Frolova finished second, 1.74 seconds back, while Charney finished third, .15 behind Frolova.
Trufanova finished just out of the medals in fourth, while Darta Zunte of Latvia and Canada’s Hallie Clarke rounded out the top six.
Sweden’s Leslie Stratton finished eighth, while the United States’ Leah Fair finished 20th.
Katharina Eigenmann of Liechtenstein finished 15th.
