From Park City, USA
(November 19, 2021) – Brazil’s Nicole Silveira stayed perfect on her North American Cup season, coming from behind in Park CIty.
Silveira came into the second heat .1 out of the lead that was held by the United States’ Sara Roderick, with Canadian standout Hallie Clarke .06 ahead of her as well. On the second run Silveira put down the quick run of the heat, with Clarke and Roderick to go. Clarke could only muster the eighth quickest run of the heat and fell out of medal contention, while Roderick was quick but not quick enough to keep ahead of the Brazilian.
Silveria took the gold, her fourth straight to start the North American Cup skeleton season, while Roderick won silver. Savannah Graybill helped put two Americans on the podium after jumping up from sixth after the first heat to finish third.
Russia’s Alena Frolova missed out on a medal by .01 to finish fourth, Clarke finished fifth, and teammate Madi Charney sixth.
Great Britain’s Amelia Coltman finished ninth in her first visit to Park City, one spot ahead of the US Virgin Islands’ Katie Tannenbaum.
Grace Dafoe put down a strong second run to leap up from 20th to 16th. Her teammate Natalie Coughlin dropped from 16th to 20th on her second run.
Lichtenstein’s Katharina Eigenmann finished 17th.
