2012 FIBT World Championships - Women's Skeleton

Katie Uhlaender is one clean run down Mt. Van Hoevenberg away from taking the 2012 World Championship. The American put down her third straight clean run to hold onto her lead. Canadian Mellisa Hollingsworth is giving chase, and managed to cut into Uhlaender’s lead by .01, down to .17.

It’s continuing to be a strong showing for the British Skeleton team, with Shelley Rudman returning to form after a rough second run. Her 55.58 was the second quickest run of the heat, just behind fourth-place Lizzy Yarnold, who’s 55.40 was the quickest of the weekend. Countrywoman Amy Williams sits fifth, moving up one spot past German Marion Thees.

There are three Germans in the top 10, with Katharina Heinz just behind Thees, while Aussie Lucy Katherine Chaffer sits between Heinz and Anja Huber. Huber had another uncharacteristically slow run, but moves to 9th, just ahead of Canadian Sarah Reid.

American Anne O’Shea has had some bumpy runs this weekend, but she goes into the final heat 12th on the strength of the best start in every heat, while Amy Gough rounds out the Canadian contingent in 14th.
