From Winterberg, GER
(November 19, 2021) – Zheng Yin won his third straight European Cup skeleton race, beating out a pair of Germans in Winterberg.
Yin had the fast two starts of the race, and was the quickest in both heats on his way to a .23 second victory over Cedric Renner.
Renner’s teammate, Stefan Röttig finished third, well ahead of those outside of the medals.
Great Britain’s Laurence Bostock finished fourth, well ahead of China’s Haifeng Zhu in fifth. Germany put three sleds in the top six on home ice with Ludwig Mannhardt rounding out the top six.
Ronnie Wells and Patrick Atkin helped put three British sleds in the top 20, with Wells in 13th and Atkin in 15th. Daniel Read missed out on a second run, finishing in 23rd.
It was a mixed race for the North Americans in the field. Canada’s Evan Neufeldt finished in seventh place, while the United States’ Hunter Williams finished 25th. The race was the first in Europe for Neufeldt and the first at Winterberg for Williams.
