(November 13, 2021) – Yuxi Li won her second straight European Cup skeleton gold medal, cruising to victory in Lillehammer.
In the first heat, Li opened up a .71 second advantage over Mystique Ro of the United States. While Ro was able to find some more speed on her second run, she was no match for Li, who set the fastest two times of the race.
Ro’s silver medal came a day after missing out on a medal after a second heat crash. Her silver was a career best in Europe.
Germany’s Sarah Wimmer won bronze, 1.34 behind Li.
Wimmer’s teammate Julia Simmchen finished fourth, just ahead of Austria’s Annia Unterscheider in fifth. Hanna Staub helped put three Germans in the top six with a sixth place effort.
Great Britain’s Amelia Kellyman finished eighth, while teammate Freya Tarbit finished four spots back in 12th.
Liechtenstein’s Katharina Eigenmann finished 13th.
