From Calgary, Alberta
Manuel Machata, Max Arndt and Alexsandr Zubkov came into the final heat of the 2011/2012 season separated by .07, with any of the three having a shot to win. Machata would put down the fastest time in both heats, and in turn wins the eighth and final World Cup stop of the year. Max Arndt finishes second, and takes the Combined (2 and 4 man) title, while Zubkov’s third place finish gives him the four-man title.
Oskar Melbardis finishes fourth just ahead of Lyndon Rush. Rush had a very clean run, but there was no speed with it, and his time of 54.43 was .4 slower than his first heat run. Rush’s teammate, Justin Kripps moves up one spot from his previous run, finishing 9th.
Tough day for the Americans. Nick Cunningham moves up one spot to 17th, but at the expense of Cory Butner. Butner had what seemed to be a top-ten run going but came off Turn 12 a little late and his USA-1 sled went over. Brakeman Dallas Robinson fell out the back of the sled, causing a disqualification.
