(Jan. 8, 2021) – For the fourth time in as many attempts this season, Hans Peter Hannighofer won gold in European Cup two-man bobsled competition.
As he did in the previous day’s race, Hannighofer had the fastest time in both heats on his way to his fourth gold medal of the season.
Christopher Spring won his second European Cup medal in as many attempts, this time winning silver on the strength of the second fastest run in both heats. He and brakeman Mike Evelyn had the fastest start in both heats, as well, for Canada.
Markus Treichl finished third after coming into the second heat tied with Spring. The Austrian had the fourth quickest run in the second heat to drop him to third, just ahead of Swiss pilot Michael Kuonen, who finished fourth.
Maxim Andrianov and the previous race silver medalist Jonas Jannusch rounded out the top six.
Martin Kranz scored a career best finish for Liechtenstein in 14th, two spots ahead of Australian Evan Ohanlon in 16th.
