From Igls, AUT
(Dec. 18, 2020) – The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation announced on Friday that the World Cup finale would be held on the 1976 Olympic track in Igls.
The finale will now be held on the last weekend of January, 2021.
The race was originally scheduled to be held on the 2022 Olympic track in Yanqing, but due to COVID-19 concerns that test event has been moved until the fall of 2021. That cancelation left a gap in the schedule that Igls has now filled.
Earlier the International Luge Federation announced that their finale, also scheduled for Yanqing, had been moved to St. Moritz.
The IBSF already had races scheduled for Igls on that weekend, with both the Intercontinental Cup and European Cup skeleton tours scheduled to be in action. Those races have been moved to February 15-20 to make way for the World Cup.
The daily schedule for the World Cup finale has not been announced yet, but likely will see men’s and women’s skeleton on January 29, the Monobob World Series and two-man bobsled on Saturday, and women’s and four-man bobsled on Sunday.
SlidingOnIce.com will have the full daily schedule posted as soon as it becomes available.
