From Altenberg, Germany
Unlike most every other discipline sliding this weekend, Germany only has a marginal advantage in four-man bobsled. Max Arndt and GER 2 has a commanding lead, but the positions behind him are a tossup. RUS 1 and GER 1 were the first two sleds off, and were separated by only .01, and Arndt was the only pilot to challenge. Melbardis, Kasjanov, Maskalans and Machata are all within .11 of each other, while the snow started to come down just as Steve Holcomb took to the starting block.
USA’s John Napier finishes heat 1 in 16th.
