FIBT World Cup – Round 3 – Men’s Skeleton

From Winterberg, Germany

Today was set to be the culmination of the first attempt of a three-run skeleton event, with the first two heats on Friday like normal.  Instead of just deciding things after taking the top 20 after the first run, the top 10 after the second run were to go to a slide-off.  With weather not playing nicely, only one run was taken Friday.

Saturday, weather played a factor once again.  The “slowest” slider from Friday of the final 10, Kristan Bromley would set a pace just as the snow started to come down once again.  His time would place him fourth overall, with slider after slider unable to keep up.  Tomass Dukurs would suffer from an awful start, and fell back, allowing Frank Rommel to move to the podium, just ahead of Alexander Tretiakov.  Surprising no one, Martins Dukurs takes the gold medal.
