From Winterberg, Germany
Run 1 was cancelled. The format had called for the top 20 from Run 1 to go into Run 2 as usual. The top 10 from Run 2 are to go onto Run 3 that will be held tomorrow in between bobsled runs.
Shelley Rudman was the first slider off. Rudman’s runs tend to be quick, and she was one of the quicker sliders in training this week. The track looked rough, and her 1:00.90 was only good enough for 14th.
Currently only the top 10 will still race tomorrow, leaving Rudman, Melissa Hollingsworth and other World Cup top 10 sliders on the outside looking in.
Nozomi Komuro from Japan currently leads, with Marion Thees, Katharina Heinz, Amy Gough and Anne O’Shea rounding out the top 5.
