Mar. 11, 2018 – Latvian Arturs Klots won his second Para-Sport World Championship in as many seasons, dominating on his way to a gold medal.
Klots was the quickest in each of the race’s four heats, winning by a total of .7 over 2016 world champion Lonnie Bissonnette of Canada.
Klots and Bissonnette were the class of the field, with both athletes finishing well over a second ahead of bronze medalist Guro Fronsdal of Norway.
Fronsdal became the first woman to finish on a World Championships podium with her third place finish.
European champion Alvils Brants finished fourth, while Pier Buccoliero and Andreas Kapfinger rounded out the top six.
Barry Schroeder was the top-finishing American in seventh place, while teammate Christ Rasmussen finished 18th.
World Cup champion Corie Mapp finished eighth.
