It seemed like it was Emma Lincoln-Smith’s race to lose. With a solid push at the top, Lincoln-Smith had a solid run going, but much like many of her competitors, she had a sloppy bottom half of her run, and put down only the seventh quickest second run of the day.
That put Olga Potylitsina in the gold-medal position. Potylitsina had the second fastest run of the day for her second run, and was rewarded with her first ever FIBT World Cup gold medal.
“I’ve got a lot of emotion right now, I’m really happy,” said Potylitsina of her win.
Canadian Melissa Hollingsworth finished third, with teammates Sarah Reid and Amy Gough finishing eleventh and twelfth. Americans Annie O’Shea and Kimber Gabryszak finished seventh and twentieth, respectively.
