From Königssee, GER
Tina Hermann dominated on home ice, setting a track record in the process. The German broke the track record in both runs, finishing over a second ahead of teammate Jacqueline Lölling. Lölling had two flawless runs, hampered only by painfully slow starts at the top.
Marina Gilardoni scored her first ever World Cup medal with a bronze medal for Switzerland. Lelde Priedulena also wound up with a career-best finish in fourth, while Sophia Griebel put all three German sleds in the top five in fifth. Jane Channel finished sixth for Canada.
Annie O’Shea led the way for the United States with a eighth place finish. Rookie teammate Kendall Wesenberg came into the second heat in tenth, but a rough start to her second run left her in 14th.
Canadian Elisabeth Vathje finished ninth in her first World Cup trip to Königssee, while Laura Deas and Donna Creighton finished tenth and 15th respectively for Great Britain.
Kim Meylemans was the biggest mover in the second run, moving up to seventh from 13th after a second run that broke the track record coming into today’s race.
