The FIBT reports today that German skeleton athlete Frank Rommel has retired from the sport.
Rommel ends his 16 year career with one European Championship (2009, St. Moritz), as well as silver and two bronzes in the FIBT World Championships (silver in 2012, bronze in 2008 & 2012), and two silvers and a bronze to go with his 2009 championship (silver in 2006 & 2010, bronze in 2014.
While the 2013/2014 campaign was a struggle at times for the German men’s skeleton team, Rommel continued to be the leader of the team, scoring event bests for his country in most events.
The three-time Olympian’s last victory was November, 2012 at Whistler (Canada).
