From Königssee, Germany,
It’s been a very solid weekend for the Swiss bobsled teams. In two-man, Beat Hefti took the European Championship, and in women’s bobsled Fabienne Meyer took gold in both the European Championship and final World Cup race of the season. Canadian Kaillie Humphries came into the second heat with a small advantage over the Swiss slider, but a bumpy run down the Bavarian track set her back to a bronze medal. Elana Meyers of the United States took silver after an eighth place first run but a very quick second trip down the track. Sandra Kiriasis and Esme Kamphuis took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Despite the disappointing second run, Kaillie Humphries took the World Cup overall title by a single point over Elana Meyers. Jamie Greubel made it a very solid finish overall for the Americans with a third place World Cup finish.
Greubel finished tenth of the Americans, while teammate Jazmine Fenlator took eighth, putting all three American sleds in the top 10. Jenny Ciochetti took 12th for Canada, while Paula Walker finished 11th for Great Britain.
