From Igls, Austria
For the last few years, the United States women’s bobsled program has been getting stronger, and in Igls it once again showed it will be a force to reckon with in Sochi and beyond. Jamie Greubel scored her first World Cup gold medal, dominating Sunday’s event by winning both heats. Her teammate Elana Meyers took silver, just .13 behind Greubel. German Anja Schneiderheinze took bronze. Canadian Kaillie Humphries was fifth after the first heat but had the second-fastest run in heat two to take fourth while Sandra Kirasis made it two German sleds in the top five.
Jazmine Fenlator finished seventh, easily putting all three sleds in the top 10 for the United States. Jenifer Ciochetti finished 15th for Canada, while Paula Walker finished just ahead in 14th for Great Britain.
