For the first time this season, it was someone other than American Steven Holcomb atop the podium of an FIBT World Cup men’s bobsled event. Holcomb had a rough first run, sitting ninth. After a better second run, Holcomb moved up to seventh place, still out of the top three for the first time all year.
The man atop the podium is no stranger to gold, as Beat Hefti took first for Switzerland. Alexander Zubkov had the fastest second heat for Russia and takes silver, while COry Butner put down two very quick runs for the US to take bronze, just .01 out of silver.
Holcomb’s seventh place will keep him atop the FIBT World Cup points, while Nick Cunningham had a tough second run to finish 12th.
Lyndon Rush had the fast time for Canada, finishing sixth, while Chris Spring finished ninth and Justin Kripps 11th. Lamin Deen and John Jackson finished 26th and 27th, respectively, for Great Britain.
