From St. Moritz, Switzerland
Alexander Tretjyakov will take almost a half-second lead into the final heat over Martins Dukurs. The defending world champion had a very uncharacteristically poor bottom half of his run, including a long skid and two wall hits to drop to .46 behind the Russian. An even rougher run was put down by Sergei Chudinov, who hit the roof in Horseshoe to fall over 1.8 seconds off the lead and 1.3 seconds off Dukurs. German Frank Rommel leapfrogs Tomass Dukurs into fourth, while Tomass is just .08 ahead of American John Daly and Eric Neilson, who are tied for sixth.
Another set of good runs by the American leaves both Daly and Matt Antoine in position to move up. Daly is tied for sixth, but just .09 out of fourth, while Antoine is 11th and just a couple tenths behind Dom Parsons in tenth.
The Canadians have stepped up their game today, with Neilson leading the way, leapfrogging Jon Montgomery into 6th. Montgomery sits eighth, just behind Daly and Neilson in sixth, while John Fairbairn is 21st. All three British sliders are solidly in the top 20, with Kristan Bromley ninth, Dom Parsons tenth and Ed Smith 14th.
