From Winterberg, GER
(February 21, 2025) – Maximilian Illmann and brakeman Felix Dahms slid to a dominating victory in Winterberg in the penultimate Europe Cup two-man race of the 2024/2025 season.
Illmann and Dahms had the quick start in both heats, tied in both with teammates Hans Peter Hannighofer and Tim Becker, and the quick run of both heats on their way to a .44 second victory over Hannighofer.
The win for Illmann was his fifth straight in two-man action.
Hannighofer slid to second place, with teammates Alexander Czudaj and Johannes Reuter third, the only other team within a second of Illmann.
Laurin Zern and Theo Hempel helped Germany to a sweep of the top four spots.
Dutch slider Dave Wesselink and Jelen Franjic were fifth, with Latvia’s Renars Grantis and Edgars Ungurs in sixth, 1.65 out of the lead rounding out the top six.
With one race to go in the 2024/2025 Europe Cup season, Illmann leads Grantins by 26 points. Czech slider Jachym Prochazka is third, 38 points behind Grantins.
