From Winterberg, GER
(February 21, 2025) – Inola Blatty held off Germany’s Charlotte Candrix to win her fourth monobob race of the 2025 Calendar year.
The racing was close after the first heat. Germany’s Maureen Zimmer took the lead, and was tied by Blatty, with both Canada’s Kristen Bujnowski and Candrix within .15 in third and fourth, respectively.
But in the second heat Candrix threw down the best run of the heat and the only sub-minute slide of that heat to take the lead. She then moved into the medals after out-sliding Bujnowski by .12.
Blatty took the lead with the second quickest slide of the race, .07 ahead of Candrix, and Zimmer was unable to answer. The German was outstarted by Blatty and never could make up the time as she slid to third, .06 behind Candrix.
Blatty’s win was her fourth in five races, with a sixth place in Altenberg the only blemish on her 2025 monobob record.
Candrix took silver, Zimmer bronze, with Bujnowski, Maja Voigt and Diana Filipszki rounding out the top six.
Motorsports star Simona de Silvestro was eighth, with Spain’s Lenanna Garcia 12th and Jamaica’s Mica Moore 15th.
With one race to go in the 2024/2025 Europe Cup monobob season, Blatty holes a 54 point lead over teammate Selina Isler. Leanna Garcia is third, 20 points ahead of Patricia Tajcnarova in fourth.
