The race kicked off with Latvia’s Sevics-Mikelsevics and Krasts handing off to Marta Robezniece and Kitija Boganova, the latter of whom crashed in their race on Saturday. A pair of clean runs put them into the lead, which they held past the Ukranian ad Romanian teams.

They were eventually knocked out of the leaders’ box by teammates Martins Bots and Roberts Plume with Anda Upite and Zane Kalume. Bots and Plume had crashed in their second run on Saturday but put down a clean and quick run to take the lead at the halfway point, a lead that was held by Upite and Kaluma.

Both the Italian team and American teams were unable to match the Latvians. The Germany 2 team of men’s doubles medalists Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt and women’s doubles medalists Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina took over on the strength of a men’s doubles quickest run by Wendl and Arlt.

The Austrians were on the hunt for more gold, with men’s doubles gold medalists Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl joined by women’s doubles silver medalists Selina Egle and Lara Kipp. Kindl was on the hunt for his third gold medal of the weekend, but the duo had trouble in their run, and while Egle and Kipp were able to make up most all of the time lost to take the lead, the door was left open for the second German team.

Toni Eggert and Florian Müller had a quick start, and were just .003 off the pace set by their men’s doubles teammates Kindl and Arlt. Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal needed to be nearly perfect, in their second run, and were just that as the previous day’s gold medalists once again outslid the Austrians on their way to gold, with Austria silver and Germany-2 bronze.

Latvia-1, Italy, and the United States rounded out the top six.
