Bos Wins EC Season Finale, Erlacher Wins Title

From Lillehammer, NOR

(February 14, 2025) – Kimberley Bos set the two fast times of the season finale in Lillehammer as she cruised to a gold medal in Europe Cup action.

Bos, in her first Europe Cup start in over four years, had the second quickest start in the first heat on her way to a .39 second advantage over Germany’s Viktoria Dönicke. Behind them, USA’s Kelly Curtis and Michelle Toukan both looked to battle for medals.

In the scond heat, Toukan was quick enough to beat out Germany’s Viktoria Hansova, but was edged out by just .08 by teammate Curtis by a combined .08.

Dönicke, who had the quick start of both heats, couldn’t match either of the Americans’ second run pace, but had enough in the bank from the first heat to edge out Curtis by just .02 for the lead with Bos to go.

But that’s where the close racing finished up. Bos was a tick slower in her second run but still very much ahead of anyone else as she took gold by .8 over Dönicke, and .82 ahead of Curtis.

The gold medal for the reigning Olympic bronze medalist was actually her first career gold on the Europe Cup circuit. She’d previously won silver in a pair of EC races in St. Moritz during the 2015/2016 season.

For Dönicke, silver was fifth top six in six races on the season.

Curtis, like Bos, hadn’t raced on Europe Cup in over four years and won her first medal, a bronze.

Toukan finished a strong fourth, ahead of Hansova and Julia Erlacher, who rounded out the top six.

Kendall Wesenberg was the third of three Americans in the field. The 2014/2015 Europe Cup champion, finished tenth in her first look at Lillehammer in over a decade.

Julia Erlacher had already clinched the season title coming into the race in Lillehammer, but finished the year 168 points ahead of Viktoria Hansova, the top junior on the circuit. With her fourth-place finish, Michelle Toukan finished third overall, with Annia Unterscheider fourth and Viktoria Dönicke fifth.
