(February 1, 2025) – Jonas Frei swept the final stop of the 2024/2025 Para Sport World Cup in Sigulda with a second victory, but this time had to come from behind to do so.
Austria’s Hermann Ellmauer was the leader after the first heat, .06 ahead of Frei. In third sat Flavio Menardi, with USA’s Robert Balk in fourth, only .01 behind the Italian.

In the second heat Balk took the lead from Latvia’s Arturs Klots, who had rallied from a bad first heat to move his way up from seventh, to guarantee a medal in the season finale.
Balk was upended by Frei, who for the second time in as many days was within a tenth of his first run time with his second effort.
Ellmauer was the last slider off the top for the 2024/2025 season. But early trouble put the Austrian behind early, and while a great slide late in the run brought him back to Frei, he ran out of track and finished .12 behind in second to give Frei the victory.
It was Frei winning his second straight gold, Ellmauer his second straight silver, and Balk his first medal since the fourth race in Lillehammer.
Klots was fourth, Christopher Stewart fifth, and Guillermo Castillo sixth for the United States.
Austin Parker was 12 as the third American, with Doc Jacobs 13th and Dan Rizzieri 16th.
Great Britain’s Corie Mapp was eighth, which was enough to win the season title ahead of Jonas Frei. Frei, who did all he could across the final two races, fell 27 points short of Mapp.
Hermann Ellmauer was third on the season, only 4 points behind Frei, with Arturs Klots fourth and Guillermo Castillo fifth.
