From Umhausen, AUT
(February 7, 2025) – Matthias and Peter Lambacher won their second straight gold medal as they edged out teammates Tobias Paur and Andreas Hofer for top honors.
The race kicked off with Slovakians Gabriel and Samuel Halcin’s run to set the pace. Teammates Peter and Dominik Neupauer struggled to keep up and fell behind, eventually finishing three seconds off of the Halcins’ pace.
Up next were Paur and Hofer. A strong start and clean slide by them moved them easily into the lead by well over a second.
The Lambachers pulled off next. They were ahead at the first split by a hundredth, and as their run continued the lead very slowly grew to what would eventually be a .21 advantage with only World Cup leaders Maxmilian Pichler and Nico Edlinger to go.
The Austrians were the quickest off the top, but fell back early on. The duo never quite got things back as they fell well out of contention for the lead and eventually finished third, .62 behind the Lambachers.

Gold for Matthias and Peter Lambacher was their second straight, while silver for Paur and Hofer was their third of the season. Pichler and Edlinger took bronze, their worst finish of the season.
Going into Saturday’s Eliminator event, Pichler and Edlinger hold a 30 point lead over Lambacher and Lambacher, with Pauer and Hofer third, 30 points behind their teammates.
