Coltman & Wyatt Win Mixed Team Finale

From Lillehammer, NOR

(February 8, 2025) – Great Britain’s Amelia Coltman and Marcus Wyatt slid to gold in the final skeleton race of the World Cup season, the Mixed Team event.

The race kicked off with Spain, Belgium, and Latvia handing off the lead until Italy’s Alessandra Fumagalli and Giovanni Marchetti took the lead from the fifth starting spot. The Italy-2 team held that lead for six pairs of runs until Germany’s Susanne Kreher and Axel Jungk took over in the top spot, despite a .65 second penalty for Jungk jumping the start.

The German lead held for about three minutes, as Italy-1’s Valentina Margaglio and Mattia Gaspari moved into the leader’s box with strong runs by both athletes.

The United States has been consistently good in these Mixed Team events on the strength of great starts from the standing start. They once again excelled as they took the lead over and held it until Coltman and Wyatt took over, up by .28 over the Americans.

The final team off the top was that of World Cup champion Janine Flock and European Championships gold medalist Samuel Maier. The Austrians both set quick times in their runs, but were edged out by the Brits by just .02 to give the silver to Coltman and Wyatt.

The gold was the second in the event for Wyatt, while for Coltman it was her second medal in the event after a bronze in St. Moritz.

Flock and Maier’s silvers were their first medals in the Mixed team event, while the bronzes for Florian and Ro was the second for each of them this season.

China’s Dan Zhao and Qinwei Lin were fourth on the day, while Italy’s Valentina Margaglio and Mattia Gaspari tied with Germany’s Jacqueline Pfeifer and Axel Jungk in fifth.

The race lead progression was as follows: Spain -> Belgium -> Latvia -> Italy-2 -> Germany-1 -> Italy-1 -> USA-1 -> Great Britain-2
