(January 27, 2025) – Kris Horn won the final race of the 2024/2025 North American Cup season in a one-heat race in Lake Placid.
The race kicked off with Jamaica’s Shane Pitter setting the pace with a 1:00.18 downtime. Horn was second off the top, his team of he, Josh Williamson, Adrian Adams and Hunter Powell set the quick start of the race with a 5.20 and Horn slid to the lead, over four seconds ahead of Pitter.
From there, pilot after pilot was unable to match Horn’s time. Cam Scott slid behind Pitter, Shane Fisher ahead of Pitter, and then finally Edson Bindilatti slid to second place behind Horn.
Geoff Gadbois was next after Bindilatti, and slid to third place at the time, .75 behind Horn. From there, the last contender was South Korea’s Youngjin Suk from the 12th starting position. Suk’s team outstarted Gadbois’s by a hundredth of a second. Suk kept ahead of Gadbois at every split and finished in third, behind Bindilatti and ahead of Gadbois.
Horn took the gold medal, his fifth in sixth four-man races on the season. Bindilatti’s silver was his seventh in eight races, while Suk’s bronze was his fourth medal in four races.
Gadbois took fourth, Canada’s Jay Dearborn fifth, and Fisher sixth.
Edson Bindilatti took the season title ahead of Jay Dearborn. Horn finished the year in third, with Gadbois fourth and Cyrus Gray fifth.
