(January 27, 2025) – Riley Tejcek scored her first career gold medal in the final race of the 2024/2025 women’s bobsled North American Cup season, edging out South Korea’s Yooran Kim to do so.
Kim and brakewoman Eunji Jeon, the previous day’s two-woman gold medalists, led the way after the first heat. They held a .06 advantage over Tejcek and Jestena Mattson, with Canada’s Erica Voss and Eden Wilson just over a quarter of a second back in third.
In the second heat, Kristen Bujnowski and Kourtney Kennard, fourth entering run two, set the quick run of the heat with a combined downtime that was eventually matched by Voss.
Tejcek was the penultimate pilot off the top in Lake Placid. She and Mattson picked up .02 off of their first push, and Tejcek put down a slide that placed her in the lead by a half of a second over the two Candian teams.
Kim and Jeon outstarted Tejcek and Mattson by .02, giving them a .08 second advantage at the start. But by the first split that advantage had shrunk and by Shady (Lake Placid’s Curve 10) the lead was gone. Kim slid to second place, .08 behind the Americans, with Tejcek taking gold.
Tejcek’s gold came in her 25th career two-woman start and was her fourth straight medal. Kim’s silver was her fourth medal in four two-woman races this season.
Bujnowski’s bronze medal was her seventh in eight races, while Voss’s was her fifth in six starts.
USA’s Lauren Brzozowski and Kourtney Kennard were fifth, with Taiwan’s Sin-Rong Lin and Yu-Chieh Liang sixth.
With her bronze medal, Kristen Bujnowski took the season two-woman title ahead of Riley Tejcek. Agnese Campeol was third on the season, ahead of Erica Voss and Sin-Rong Lin in fourth and fifth.
