From Lake Placid, USA

(January 25, 2025) – Nicole Silveira slid to gold in a stacked field of athletes in North American Cup action on Saturday in Lake Placid.

The 2021/2022 NAC champion slid to a .27 second advantage over reigning world champion Hallie Clarke, with Germany’s Jacqueline Pfeifer in third, .41 back.

In the second heat Susanne Kreher, the 2023 world champion, slid to the lead ahead of Yuxi Li, and held her position past Jane Channell and Pfeifer before being edged out by Clarke.

Silveira, the reigning Asian Cup champion, set the quick start of the heat and had the fast split all the way down the track that will hold the 2025 World Championships on her way to a .64 second victory over Clarke, with Kreher third.

The gold was her sixth in North American Cup action over her last eight races.

Clarke’s silver was her third NAC medal in her last five races, while Kreher’s bronze came in her first appearance on the tour.

Pfeifer and Channell finished tied for fourth, with Li sixth.

Kendall Wesenberg finished eighth, her first non-gold since her return to action from injury. Teammates Hannah Gaskins, Logan Wudi, Liesel Baker, and Sha’Londa Terry were 19th, 20th, 21st, and 23rd respectively.

Grace Dafoe helped put two Canadian sleds in the top 15 with a 14th place finish. Mackenzie Adams was 27th to round out the Canadian effort.

Great Britain’s Isabella Fassnidge was 11th, her best finish in Lake Placid.
